Bargello Wall Hanging

A Bargello Quilt is so much fun. All true bargellos are made the same.
Learn this simple quilt and you are ready for anything! Reserve your space now!
Finished Size 35-1/4” by 42-1/2”
Materials
8 fat quarters (fat quarter = 18” by 20”) in 2 or 3 color families in solids or prints in a range of values from light to dark.
NOTE: Combining these values is what gives the contrast necessary for a successful bargello quilt. Vary the scale of the prints on your fabrics.
You will also need:
¼ yard for inner border
2/3 yard for outer border
3/8 yard for binding
1 and 3/8 yards of backing fabric
Before the first class please try to get the cutting finished.
You will have more room at home and we will not have to spend time cutting. Only cut the fat quarters.
*Measurements include ¼ inch seam allowances.
Arrange your selected fabric quarters in an attractive sequence, blending color families from light to dark. Number fabrics in this sequence #1 - #8. Glue a swatch of each fabric on to the fabric chart on page 2 of your patter. You won’t need it now, but you will later!
From each fat quarter cut: 4 each, 2 ½ inch wide strips along the 20-inch side
Referring to the attached chart, arrange your 8 assorted strips in numbered order. Using a 2.0 or slightly smaller stitch length, join the 2 ½ inch strips to make a strip set. Join the strip sets in the numerical order of the fabric numbers. Repeat to make 4 identical strip sets. Yes, get up and press after adding the next color. It will help prevent a curve in your strip set. Press seam allowances up (toward fabric #1) in 2 of the strip sets. Press seam allowances down (toward fabric #8) in the remaining 2 strip sets. From now on the strip set pressed up is A and the strip set pressed down is B. The direction of the pressing is the ONLY difference in strip set A and strip set B.
